A TIP OF THE CAP TO ZERMATT

COMMISH'S ABOMINABLES MERCHANDISE COLLECTION KEEPS GETTING BIGGER

ZERMATT (AP)—In what has become an annual celebration, WFBL Commissioner and Zermatt Abominables head coach Ben Barnes held a private ceremony last week in honor of his latest Concludings triumph. The occasion? The rewarding of the communally pooled WFBL merchandise of his choice.

"Last year, the jersey made sense," Barnes said to himself. "I'll always cherish it, and until frame prices are drastically lowered, it will have a special place hanging in my closet. Or if Becky's gone I'll walk around the house in it.

"But this year, I decided to get something that is a bit more public-appropriate. Something that tells people 'hey, my make believe basketball team is awesome. I'm surprised you haven't heard of 'em.' Something I can wear outside the house."

Thanks to his team's surprising 6-3 victory over the favored Park City Sundancers last month, Barnes is now the proud owner of a custom embroidered A-Boms cap.

"It actually came out better than I had expected," said Barnes, who has now won three of the four possible Commissioner Barnes trophies. "What a great conversation piece! Although those conversations usually end with blank stares afterward."

It was originally speculated that Barnes would get a pair of shorts to go with his jeresey, but a source close to the league reports that an unnamed donor supplied him with some shorts before the season ended, due to his "being awesome." A cap was the next logical choice.

"I was also comtemplating a shooting jacket, but the way things are going, I figure I'll just get one next year, am I right guys?"

Again, the Commish's wife could not be reached for comment.
