WHERE "IT'S JUST WEEK ONE" MEANS NOTHING TO US
José! KG! Shaq! Kobe! It's the surprising Strats against the powerful Gators!
It's so early in the season, and therefore so difficult to really get a feel for each team—who's good, who's a fluke, etc.—are we right? No, you are not! You must have mistaken the Power Rankings for some other type of team-classification system! It's never too early to overreact to such a small sample size of games! In fact, it's exactly the right amount of early to overreact!
Team, Rank, (Previous), Record
1 (1) 6-3-0
The beneficiaries of playing an injury-depleted Bayside team, the A-Boms really were never in any trouble. Some may say Zermatt stays at number one by reputation alone, but you can't argue with a 10-week winning streak, dating back to last year (includes postseason).
2 (4) 5-4-0
Nephi proves the Preseason Power Rankings prophetic, taking care of business against the U-Dogs. The Strats are no fluke, and may have the 2nd-best point guard in the WFBL in Calderón. Key conference match-up with Twin Falls looms.
3 (5) 5-4-0
Big victory for Park City, dispatching of favored Salt Lake. We knew Amare and Wade would be monsters, but Bosh is playing out of his mind. The 'Dancers haven't lost since Week 19 of last season, and hope to continue the streak against St. George.
4 (2) 4-5-0
Close loss for the SnowBees leaves fans in Salt Lake wondering where they plan on finding assists this season. Center Pau Gasol led the team with 10, while, ahem, starting point guard Jamal Crawford managed only 9. The good news? SnowBees are 2nd in the league in blocks (14).
5 (6) 5-3-1
What? Are you kidding? We're first in the Wasatch and only 5th in the Power Rankings!? Sob sob waaaaaaaaa! Conspiracy! Impeach the Commish! Boo-hoo boo-hoo!
6 (7) 7-2-0
Not that the Power Rankings would ever apologize for their decision (all rankings final!) but if anyone has beef about a low ranking, it should be Los LeBraunas. Well, chamos, you should have started out ranked higher in the preseason! ¿Oiste?
7 (3) 3-6-0
After dominating the A-Boms all of 2007, the Tigers have not beaten their rivals since the '07 Concludings (going 9-17-1 in that span). We warned that their high ranking hinges on their health. Well, so far, Camby has yet to play, and now Beardo McWeirdo is hurt too. Both are hopeful to play this week against 'Caibo.
8 (8) 5-4-0
The Power Rankings doesn't quite know what to think about Richmond. The Butchers are the only team to win and not move up in the standings. Could it be that we expected more than a 5-4 win over struggling Udorn? Butchers are stuggling with FT% and points, but can prove their worth at New York.
9 (12) 4-5-0
A 4-5 loss, considering their top player was out all week, is not bad for the Jai-Rai. But how long can they go without D-Will in the lineup? They'll try and go at least one more week, as they travel to Zermatt to take on the top-ranked A-Boms.
10 (10) 3-5-1
Not a bad start for Rigby, all things considered. The Power Rankings till question where rebounds and points will come from, and those are both categories they'll need to steal a win away from Salt Lake. The big question: How much will VC's latest injury (hand) affect the Trojans?
11 (9) 4-5-0
No team blocked more shots than St. George, but no team had fewer steals wither. On top of that, only one player (Gordon) made a three-pointer for the U-Dogs. That should change this week, with a big lineup-shakeup (Rose, Posey) as the U-Dogs infiltrate Park City.
12 (11) 2-7-0
Kings fans have to be wondering what to think of their chances with Oden out for at least a month. Can TJ turn things around before things get too out of hand? Also, is Carmelo Anthony done being suspended and not telling his coach?

I 2nd the caption next to the Gators in the power rankings
Again, I gotta say, the Power Rankings did a great job. Hopefully we can beat Udorn this week so we're still in first when we welcome the Gators to the Alps week 3.
